Amed is a fishing village and known for its salt. There are excellent diving and snorkelling spots. The area around it offers some great possibilities too. Our staff is there to offer advice. To go anywhere, you can hire our driver, who is also an excellent guide. For a group of four this will cost around € 40 per day.

Diving & snorkelling

Diving & snorkelling

Amed and Tulamben offer some of the best diving spots on Bali. Close to Amed you can snorkel to a Japanese shipwreck just in front of the coast. We organise snorkelling trips directly from the villa. If you want to go diving, we can arrange this for you with the local diving school.

When on our upstairs terrace looking to the right, you will usually see the ‘Condor’ lying in the bay. This sailing ship offers special trips, which include the magnificent sunset view of Mount Agung.

Fishing

You can go on a fishing trip with one of our staff members. The boat lies right in front of the villa. It is a Jukung, a traditional Balinese fishing boat. Catch some fish and have it prepared by our staff!

Mount Agung

Mount Agung

Mount Agung, ‘navel of the world’, is the highest and holiest mountain on Bali. Here, on its slope you will find Bali's most sacred temple, Besakih. You can climb the volcano, but always hire a guide; the route is difficult. Our driver can bring you into contact with a guide.

To see the Balinese way of life why not take a trip through the ricefields. You will witness the process of ploughing, sowing and harvesting. If you wish, a guide can take you on a tour.

The Tirtha Gangga water palace is situated in the rice fields to the North-West of Amlapura. A number of formal pools are fed by a sacred spring. You can swim in some of the pools. Closer to Amlapura, at around fifteen minutes from Tirta Gangga, you will find the Taman Ujung water palace. This was built in 1921 by the last king of the Karangasem kingdom.

East Bali has many temples. Pura Luhur Lempuyang, for example, is one of Bali’s sad kahyangan (six temples of the heavens). This temple actually consist of several temples all located on the mountain Lempuyang. The bottom one can be reached by car the rest by climbing the over 1800 steps to reach the top at 768 meters. This temple is after the Besakih the most important temple on Bali

This palace belonging to the Karangasem royal family is the only one open to the public. Through the outer courtyard you walk to the main courtyard that has a formal lake with a large pavilion in the middle.

Just below Amlapura there is a quiet bay with white sand where you could easily spend a day. There are a few beach stalls to buy food and drinks and sunbeds with umbrellas to lie on.

Salak fruit plantation

Salak, or snakeskin fruit, is the trademark fruit of Bali. Take a tour around a salak plantation. You will taste the different variations of this fruit and can try some salak wine. You can also combine this trip with a hike through the hills.
